A Note From Me!

Hi everyone! What is with this weather? I just can't believe we haven't had any significant snow. I don't miss the mess and hassle associated with snow, but it's so beautiful! I'm sure it's on the way, hurry up!

My husband and I will be in Seattle next week for a Dr.'s appointment. I will not be publishing next Friday. However, I will update the web site with information on The Harlem Globetrotters coming to town February 6th. It will include a discount ...


Snow Fun!

Cabin Fever?  When the snow finally does fall, and it will, we know a few fun games to play in the snow!  

1.  Scavenger Hunt -  Freeze colored ice cubes and scatter them around the yard for a fun scavenger hunt.  

2.  Tic-Tac-Snow - No explanation needed!  But still so much fun!  

3.  Trim a Tree - With berries and popcorn for the birds!  Spend indoor time creating and outdoor time decorating!  

4.  Snow Golf - Pack down area for fairways and bury cups for a fun round or snow golf!

Come make art together! The first Wednesday of each month, children ages 2-4 with an adult are invited to explore art media related to BAM’s exhibitions. Dress for mess! Bring a container if you would like something in which to carry home your artwork. Compare works of art in the exhibition Open to Interpretation.and create your own paired drawings.

Vegetarian Tamale Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of corn, drained
  • 1 can of kidney beans, drained
  • 1 can of black beans, drained
  • 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 TBSP chili powder
  • 1 package of corn bread mix, prepared according to directions

Directions:

In a large bowl, mix the corn, beans, cheese, and chili powder together. Put into a greased casserole dish. Spread prepared corn bread mix over the top. Bake at 350' for 35-45 minutes (until cornbread is done). Enjoy!

The Legend of the Chinese New Year Craft

The legend of the Chinese New Year is a  story of a man-eating beast named Nian.

Nian lived deep with in the sea for the entire year, but, on every Chinese New Year eve, he would come ashore. Since he devoured livestock and humans, people fled to the mountains to escape harm.
